One of the key questions posed in Linguistics focuses on what it means when we say a speaker/writer knows a language.

Dr. Charles O. Marfo

President of LAG

Dr. Charles Ofosu Marfo is a Senior Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi and currently the Head of the Department of Modern Languages. Dr. Charles Ofosu Marfo is a Senior Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi and currently the Head of the Department of Modern Languages. He is also the current President of Linguistics Association of Ghana (LAG) and Secretary to the KNUST branch of the University Teachers' Association of Ghana (UTAG). Dr. Marfo enjoys teaching and does research on various aspects of language, linguistics and communication.

Dr. Jemima Asabea Anderson


Dr. Anderson is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English, University of Ghana, Legon. She was appointed a Lecturer in March 1999. She teaches foundation courses in English, Phonetics and Phonology of English, Varieties and Functions of English, Discourse Analysis, Pragmatics and Sociolinguistics. Her areas of research interest are cross-cultural pragmatics, speech acts, Pragmatics (Speech Acts in Non-Native Varieties of English), Politeness in English in Ghana, Phonology of English in Ghana, Ghanaian Pidgin English, Varieties of English in Ghana, Sociolinguistics, Language Choice and Language Use in Ghana and the codification of English in Ghana. Some of her research articles have appeared in local and international peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Regina Oforiwah Caesar

Organizing Secretary

Dr. Regina Oforiwah Caesar is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Ga-Dangme Education, University of Education, Winneba. She was appointed a lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba in November, 2005. She is currently the Head of Department for the Ga-Dangme Education.  She has passion for teaching and research work and teaches courses including, Communication Skills, Introduction to Phonetics and Phonology, the Morphology and Syntax of Dangme, Written and Oral Translation, Textual Analysis, Essay Writing, the Linguistics Theory II. Her areas of specialization are Morpho-syntax and Semantics. Her current publications are in local and international journals.

Ms. Juliet Oppong-Asare


Ms. Juliet Oppong-Asare is an Assistant Lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in the Department of Modern Languages.Her research interests include Pragmatics, Semantics, and Interlinguistics.

Dr. Ọbádélé Kambon

Editor-in-Chief, Ghana Journal of Linguistics

Dr. Ọbádélé Kambon completed his PhD in Linguistics at the University of Ghana in 2012 winning the Vice Chancellor's award for Best PhD in the Humanities. He is currently a Research Fellow in the Language, Literature and Drama section of the Institute of African Studies at UG. His research interests include Nominalization of Serial Verbs, Historical Linguistics, Second Language Migration, African Language Teaching and Pedagogy, and Indigenous African Combat and Militaristic Traditions. He is the current Editor-in-Chief of the Ghana Journal of Linguistics
